honoumiko: (Vogliatemi Bene...)
NEW ICON!!! (damn proud of it)

Now I simply must listen to the aria, of course. ^_^

edit: FINE, fine... rough translation, if I'm correct )
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Or if there's any better way to translate all the "bene" and still make it understandable. lol

Seriously though, that number has possibly one of the most eloquent and beautiful things ever said about Japanese culture, in my opinion:
We are a people accustomed
to tiny things,
humble and silent,
to a tenderness that barely touches
and yet is as deep as the sky
or as the sea's wave.

GAH it's just awesome. I love this opera.

For the manga one, don't forget to read from right to left!! FOR SUPER AUTHENTICITY IMITATION

Wish this came out slightly better )

Not sure I want to know. )
honoumiko: (Butterfly)
Sheesh.
I swear, if I'm feeling either uninspired or let down about my voice (in this case, it's been that I don't know where the hell my center went), I just listen to Butterfly (and in this case, Scotto's, because her placement AT LEAST IN THIS OPERA not in others, seems to be similar to mine), and I just get all excited again.

I think part of my problem is all-over tension. I need to stretch, and hopefully get a professional massage before I go. Backrubs are most certainly very nice and very enjoyable, but I think I need a professional to fix this.

And Scotto's Butterfly-voice. XD It's so funny, I always thought she sounded a bit odd in other roles and stuff, like we rented Manon Lescaut and I thought she sounded too dark, and was worried to hear her Butterfly because I thought she may have made it like that too, but you do what you have to do for a character, and she sounds so light but still powerful. :D

YARGH...

So I guess it's the high allergen count that's partly causing all of these issues with my voice. My nose is stuffy so I have very little resonance in and past my upper passaggio, and I think it's making my cords swell a little.
I'm definitely taking a break from singing the next day or two. I don't like this at all, I want to be in shape for the start of the school year...

Anyway, Little Shop was AMAZING. I liked it a lot better than Godspell, to be honest. So much easier to follow, and it still had all the humor without all the distraction. AWESOME job everyone!

AND THE PURITAN HAS GINGER ICE CREAM!! IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFORE~~!! (ginger ice cream is my favorite, tied with black raspberry and cookies and cream)
