Aug. 16th, 2006 06:18 pmHOLY FREAKING CRAP.
I just saw Il Trovatore last night. And I had said, I believe to my voice teacher, that I hadn't heard enough Verdi to judge, but that it really didn't grab me as much as Puccini.
I have now heard enough Verdi to judge. And he is tied with Puccini. In a totally different way. His music is more cerebral, and it grabs your MIND, as opposed to yanking at your heartstrings. Totally different. But equally AWESOME.
And you know how sometimes the hair on the back of your neck stands up on end?
That happened to my ENTIRE SCALP. At the end when Azucena is like "YOU HAVE BEEN AVENGED" holy CRAP that mezzo was amazing. I had ABSOLUTELY no idea there was opera of such quality up in NH. It was incredible. And I saw that there were some Peabody students in it, too. :D
Seriously, if you are in the New England area, check out Opera North... they are absolutely awesome.

And in other news... LMAO.

Seriously. I want to be her. By her I do mean Bubbles, not Miss Piggy. And the fact that they uploaded the Italian dub is HILARIOUS. Kermit in Italian. And jeez, all she was trying to do was sing Traviata... leave her alone. XD
Yeah, that is who is in my livejournal icon, if any of you were still wondering what the heck that was all about.
And...

(lj-cut lyrics reference from The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, in which there is a lyric that says "Well I've never licked a spark plug.")
