I've observed that classical musicians have a backwards headbang. Like, picture a rocker headbanging. Then picture a classical fan headbanging. It's backwards. But it seems to come naturally. And maybe the ROCKERS are backwards. But yeah, it's like... head-jerking, instead of head-banging.
Maybe it started with violinists not quite being able to headbang down because the violin was in the way, so the only way to go was up.
