You ever wonder what REALLY happens when you subject an opera fan to Chobits?

So, the story behind this is that Freia is being taken away from her sister Fricka (married to Wotan) because since Fasolt and Fafner (two giants) built the city of Valhalla for Fricka and Wotan, Wotan rather stupidly put his sister-in-law in as part of the pact, because those giants want to get paid. Also part of the pact is the Ring, so Wotan goes out to steal the ring from Alberich (who is so ugly, the catch of renouncing love to have power over the ring actually doesn't matter because he's not gonna get any to begin with). Now, the rest of this, I am quoting the great opera comedienne, Anna Russell.

Of course Alberich is simply furious, so he puts a terrible curse on the ring. But Wotan takes no notice, he takes the ring up, and gives it to Fasolt. And right away Fafner kills Fasolt to get the ring for himself. So Wotan knows that the curse is working. And this worries him, so he goes down to ground level to consult an old fortune teller friend of his called "my friend Erda." She is a green-faced torso that pops out of the ground. At least we think she's a torso because that's all anyone's seen of her. And she says to Wotan [parts of the German libretto that I am too lazy to figure out or look up] which means "Be careful, Wotan, be careful."
She then bears him eight daughters.


So yes. I was watching Chobits, saw that their names were Freya and Erda/Elda, and was like... OMFG WAGNER.

So, I'm feeling much better now, and able to look at things objectively, and I also don't feel like I'm the only person that gets into stuff like that. My problem is that I don't know how to keep it in its place, and things that I do for my own amusement, I still seek approval from others. Probably because I'm insecure about being so into it in the first place. But that's just the way I am. So, I'm sorry for annoying all of my friends with the following, starting from second grade:

I'm sure there is a HELL of a lot more. Including opera. But I'm not going to apologize for that, because I mean, I need to be openly obsessed with that. That's my life and my career.

But if I'm starting to irritate people by only talking about something that I've gotten into, just remind me, and I'll try my best to keep it to myself. :)
